An air purifier that is too small for the room just hums in the corner, and one that’s loud at night gets switched off. So the two numbers to read are CADR (how much clean air per hour) and the sleep-mode decibel figure. This guide compares three bedroom-class purifiers on those.
Quick picks
- Mid-size bedroom, wants an air-quality display: Philips AC0920Ad (India)
- Bedroom where display light bothers you, app alerts, sold in India and UK: Philips Air Purifier 900 SeriesAd (UK)
- Smaller bedroom, specialist filters available: Levoit Core 300Ad (India)

Reading the room-size claims
Notice Philips gives two numbers for the AC0920: 65 m² under one standard and 30 m² under another. That gap is the point — room-size claims depend on the test method. Use CADR to compare, and size up if you’re between rooms.
Levoit Core 300
Levoit lists 240 m³/h CADR, H13 True HEPA, and a range of swap-in filters for VOCs, smoke and pet allergens. Pick it for a small bedroom or if you want the smoke filter option. Skip it for large rooms.
Philips AC0920
Philips lists 250 m³/h, its NanoProtect HEPA, a 20.5 dB lowest setting and an AeraSense sensor that shows real-time air quality on the unit — with on-device controls, no app needed. Pick it if you want to see what the air is doing. Note: the UK page under this ASIN shows a different model (AC0950), so I’ve linked India only.
Philips 900 Series
Same 250 m³/h CADR, a 3-layer HEPA filter, 20.5 dB sleep mode with a dimmed display, and a listed maximum draw of 23 W. Pick it if you’re in the UK or want the dimmed display at night.
What the listings don’t tell you
- Filter replacement cost and interval — check the filter part number and its price before buying the purifier.
- Noise at high speed. Only the lowest setting is quoted.
- Door open vs closed. Coverage figures assume a closed room.
Bottom line
For most bedrooms, a 250 m³/h unit gives headroom: AC0920 in India, 900 Series in India or the UK. Levoit Core 300 fits smaller rooms and filter-specific needs.
